AtomixMP3 provides a virtual DJ environment that lets you play and mix MP3 music like a pro.
AtomixMP3 is a two-track music player and mixer that provides a virtual DJ environment, and this program does an excellent job mimicking professional DJ software that costs much more. Like most DJ software, AtomixMP3 isn’t limited to just MP3 files and supports many other music formats and can read music from your CDs. Sample tracks are included, and the first time it runs or when instructed, it will scan your entire system for compatible music.
AtomixMP3 also has a built-in file explorer and playlist manager, and you can create new playlists from the new mixes that you create. The program also has a host of features for manipulating music. You can adjust pitch, bass and four loop lengths for each loaded track. You can apply an array of special effects, including laugh, scream, wolf whistle, bells, and more. There’s also a host of real DJ tools to use, such as scratch, cross fade, and automatic beat matching.
The program makes it simple to save an entire session to a playlist, which you can then use for a house party or to broadcast via Internet radio or another venue. You can save mixes, burn them or entire playlists to CD, or even broadcast as you create directly through the program interface.
One issue with AtomixMP3 is a user interface style that was all the rage during WinAmp’s peak but now just looks gaudy. The UI isn’t bad though, and if you can look past the aesthetics, this is still a great program. Keep in mind however, that AtomixMP3 is now a legacy application and has been supplanted with Virtual DJ, which has a modern aesthetic as well as modern features and support.
